January 2021 - Coronavirus Lockdown Rules
Yesterday, 4 January 2021, Boris Johnson and Nicola Sturgeon announced new lockdown rules with emergency measures to control the rapid spread of coronavirus with a record 58,784 more infection cases confirmed and a further 407 deaths.
These measures, take us back to a similar situation as in March 2020.
We have put all the information you need to know about the new rules together for our customers.
Non-essential shops will be closed, household mixing banned and people will only be allowed leave their homes for essential purposes, such as work, childcare to look after an elderly relative or medical reasons. Schools will also be closed, and exercise will be limited to outdoors only.
People can also only meet up with one other person from one other family in an outdoor setting. Outdoor sports venues such as tennis courts and golf courses will have to close.
Restaurants will have new rules put in place that prevents them from selling takeaway or click and collection alcoholic drinks. They can continue to serve food for delivery or takeaway.
These rules will remain in place until at least the end of January in Scotland and the middle of February in England.
